Good morning.
The Consolation of Philosophy is a work by the Roman philosopher Boethius, written while he was imprisoned and awaiting execution by the Ostrogothic King Theodoric.
The book takes the form of a conversation between Boethius and a female personification of philosophy, referred to as "Lady Philosophy".
In one poetic passage, Boethius summarizes well what happens when we allow our thoughts to be tossed around by our circumstances:
