Good morning.

The Stoic philosopher Seneca believed that the activity of reading is indispensable. Not only does it enable us to swiftly learn what others have discovered through long study, it also nourishes the mind and refreshes it.

Seneca’s advice was to undertake a varied course of reading and sift the best wisdom from the information we gather.

By making note of the insights that enlighten us, we can revise them later and apply them in our lives. This is the embodiment of the Stoic belief that theory should inform practice and vice versa.
