Good morning.

If you wish to fear nothing, consider that all things are to be feared.

This is the paradoxical advice given by the Stoic philosopher Seneca in his essay On Earthquakes.

On the surface, it doesn’t seem a very consoling message. We might conclude that we’re being told to live in a constant state of fear, given how many threats we are exposed to.
